Google Maps Raises The Bar

February 9th, 2005 · No Comments

Its about time that someone did something to raise the bar with online mapping. No surprise that Google would be the one: http://maps.google.com/ Not only is it another seriously slick web application, it also has my address on it which most if not all of the others do not.

Google Adsense Experiment Update

February 9th, 2005 · No Comments

It has been almost 2 years since my initial Google Adsense experiments. Seems people are getting excited about this stuff that Google might be experimenting with. My experiment went further than this but it probably employs similar features available in Adsense that haven't been revealed yet but are available (or at least used to be).

End Of BlogLines??

February 8th, 2005 · No Comments

I hope this isn't true as it will likely mean the end of what is decent about BlogLines which is essentially everything but the search. I've been using BlogLines for a very long time and I've always found the search to be a bit lacking. I doubt that with Ask Jeeve's track record they will […]

Remote Scripting Javascript and DHTML

February 1st, 2005 · No Comments

Since Gmail's slick web UI, I've been seeing more and more talk about remote scripting. Brent and I came up with these ideas in mid 2000 and Brent fleshed out JSRS for use in an online tutor service we were developing back then. JSRS was used very successfully for that service and has been used […]

Free eFax Number Dissappearing?

January 31st, 2005 · No Comments

Whats the big deal with everyone getting excited about the Amazon Yellow Pages. I've been waiting since the early to mid 90's for something like this. In fact, this is one of the first useful things I thought I'd see on the net back then. There have been a lot of attempts over the years […]

For those of you looking for legitimate uses for BitTorrent and also looking to download Redhat Fedora Core 1, 2 or 3 you can find the torrents here. They are downloading extremely nicely for me right now. Be nice to see a lot more legal uses of BitTorrent like this. Perhaps I should start a […]

Steelers Get A Second Chance

January 17th, 2005 · No Comments

Yesterday's Pittsburgh Steelers game against the New York Jets was a typical Steelers playoff game (very aggravating). I've been a Steelers fan since I was old enough to know what football was. Having gone through the Bradshaw (and company) glory days, it has been very difficult to watch the Steelers struggle in the last 4-5 […]
