Back in Dec of 2007 I was experiencing NMI parity errors with my laptop.
It seemed to be after very intense graphic use and the cooling fans switching to high and low. It wouldn’t happen right away but it was getting to the point that it was happening too often that I wanted to do something about it.
It wasn’t your typical Windows blue screen but a hardware type blue screen. Numerous calls to Dell had every tech stumped. Apparently they had absolutely NO reports of this error in their database and I couldn’t convince them it was NOT an OS issue but a hardware issue. I finally got through to someone after repeatedly saying that this was being reported on the Internet in various forums and that it was likely a heat issue and likely with the GPU. I have a Nvidia Go7900 GS installed. Dell still wouldn’t admit it had anything to do with the GPU as they said that if it isn’t reported in their own database they couldn’t consider it.
They did in the end agree to swap the motherboard and everything else in this laptop EXCEPT the GPU. Well, guess what. The blue screens continued. I begged them to switch the GPU but they wouldn’t budge on it.
Perhaps this will convince them finally. But somehow I doubt it until it makes it officially into their database (and even then it will probably have a flag on it saying not to let customers know about it)!!!!!
The only good thing is these blue screens for some reason are very few. That is, I might get one every 3 or 4 weeks or so now instead of every day.
Google’s Protocol Buffers are definitely something to keep an eye on:
Protocol Buffers are a way of encoding structured data in an efficient yet extensible format. Google uses Protocol Buffers for almost all of its internal RPC protocols and file formats.
This blog is going to inform you of problems that have occurred. To protect myself from libel issues, I can only tell you of experiences I have had – facts. I will offer you links that will help you and discuss issues that arise that can harm you. My experience was with Mattamy Homes and the Town of Oakville. A well known builder and a town of some reputation. You will find that reputation does not necessarily mean that you get quality. My children were put at risk. This blog will outline this and offer you links of support. I look forward to hearing your problems with builders. Hopefully our province will find it fit to protect people who invest in the largest expenditure they will experience.
Curb season 7 is still a long ways away but its at least looking more and more likely that we’ll see it at some point. A recent interview with Jeff Garlin as posted over at THUD:
The actor, who plays the main human role in Wall-E, figures that if Larry David decides to come back for another season (and Garlin’s sense is that he will), they won’t be getting in front of the camera until the end of 2008 at the earliest. And even when they come back, Garlin has no idea how Jeff will help Larry deal with his divorce.
“Let me just tell you what Curb Your Enthusiasm is like for me and Larry. We do all first drafts – there’s no rewriting, it’s all first drafts. When we get to the set, let’s say it’s a scene where Larry and I are driving somewhere, talking about something. They’ll say ‘Speed,’ meaning the sound and cameras are ready to go, and I’ll turn to Larry and say, ‘What’s this scene about?’ He’ll say ‘I don’t remember.’ We’ll call over the AD, who has a small version of the script, and we’ll look at it and say ‘Oh, okay.’ So I won’t know until I’m filming that day. I mean, I read the outlines in advance, but I forget them by the time we go into production.”
I’m very happy to see that Bill has some issues of his own when using MS stuff. It would be easy to write a rant like this every day!!!! Found here. The PDF file linked seems to make this legit.

I am quite disappointed at how Windows Usability has been going backwards and the program management groups don’t drive usability issues.
Let me give you my experience from yesterday.
I decided to download (Moviemaker) and buy the Digital Plus pack … so I went to Microsoft.com. They have a download place so I went there.
The first 5 times I used the site it timed out while trying to bring up the download page. Then after an 8 second delay I got it to come up.
