Just finished getting Radio 8.0 updated and working properly. Took probably 1-2 hrs of messing around. The reason being I'm running Radio in my own usual fashion - totally different than one would expect!! I had Radio 7.x running on a server so that news aggegration happened around the clock at 10 minutes to the hour. I'd do all my work with Radio over the web usually from my desktop machine or whatever machine I happened to be sitting in front of. Or better yet, I can get to my news from my cell phone with an up-to-date headlines. Also, the Radio www directory was a virtual directory of IIS so that there was no need to upstream anywhere. Anywone connected to this blog actually read the HTML files straight out of the Radio directory. Worked great.
Radio 8 changed all that. No problem I thought, I'll just create an upstream to an FTP site and things will continue to work. Well for some reason the FTP upstream would create the directories and files but they would all be of zero length. I thought that it had something to do with me mucking about with where Radio stores its www files etc since it is now different than 7.x. After much messing around I discovered that it was an FTP issue (which I won't get into here for potential security reasons) and once resolved everything seems to be normal. Except for the fact that history doesn't seem to be working on the Userland supplied blogging site but I'm not too worried about that since I'm hosting the blog myself anyway.
